Three Dogs GymLittle dogs, big weights June 21 World Master's Bench Press ChampionshipsReporting it late, but I came 4th in the 125KG+ class in Taupo, New Zealand.
195 Three Whites
202.5 Three Whites
207.5 Three Whites
Rare enough to get three whites in one lift, yet alone on all three lifts.
February 22 Sydney Grading CompFirst comp of the year, screwed up a bit due to having to touch higher than usual.
Easy 190, two reds.
Easy 195, two whites
Misgrooved 200, miss.
Still a 10KG improvement for 125kg state master's bench record, but struggling with strength after weight loss. July 28 2008 National BenchThe Captain came out of retirement for a succesful attack on the 125+ class, with 200, 207.5 and 215KG benches, all succesful.
March 12 NSW Open BenchOh well, another bomb. 215F, 215F, 215F - all lifts completed successfully, but uneven lockouts or dipping caused 2 reds on each of them. Positive is that I lifted 215 3 times, I've bombed in much worse ways. Oh well, better luck next time... The Big O February 17 2008 Sydney GradingThe year started off badly, a minor pec tear on new years day, then the flu, then strep throat, which wrote off January as far as training was concerned.
With only 3 weeks back in training, this comp could have been ugly, but instead I got 207.5, 212.5F 212.5.
A comp PR and new state record. November 14 From The Desk Of Captain LumpySitting on the sideline in retirement, I see that The Big O has outlifted me at a lighter bodyweight. Whether or not this calls for a return to the platform to put things as they should be, or if I will bow out humbly, remains to be seen. And a message for T - 100! November 11 Matti Tika 2007After easily making weight at 124.1KG, the first hurdle that was encountered was that benchers weren't going first, and this was a worry as The Big O needed sustenance. Of course, this was after eating his McDonalds breakfast. Thankfully a supermarket nearby was open, easing the concerns about starving to death. Warm ups went well, despite the chaos and confusion in the warm up room. On to the main event 200 3 Whites 205 3 Whites 210 2 Whites All were easy, and once again, there was still something left in the somewhat bountiful tank of bench. The Big O rules Supreme. Or Super Supreme. With garlic bread. Delivered to your door in 30 minutes or it's free.
